Hey guys,
Just wanted to ask the brother hood about changing my Th350 to a manual SM46?(I think its called that ?)Is there any manual gearbox that had 4 gears (Usable ?)I hear first gear is pretty useless , it goes through it to quick? Im running a tuned big block :D th350/np205 33x12.5 tyres.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.:waytogo:
Im just likeing the idea of a stick shift.

The NV4500 is pretty much a SM465 with OD gear. That sounds like what you want.

It's not a straight bolt in swap though. They never put them in our trucks. Lots of folks on here have done it though.

If you are running the desert with a 454 I would run a NV4500 although I would stick with an auto for sand myself.
I like auto for speed, I like manual for slow technical stuff like rocks.
If I were you I would look for an overdrive auto like the 4l80e, but if you must go with a NV4500, not the SM465.
I am guessing budget shouldn't be a problem so you can get those pretty easy.
I don't know how it is in bahrain, but most of the area over there has plenty of GM trucks so getting those parts shouldn't be hard, just expensive.

I would look into maybe a ZF-6 6 speed manual, it's beefier than the NV4500, and has 6 speeds. It was found behind the 8.1L and the Duramax back before GM decided to make only slushboxes. It was also used by Ford. It'd give ya 6 useable forward gears, all of them synchronized. Granted it would be a lot more complicated of a swap than popping in an SM465 but, seems like it'd be worth it. :waytogo:

TKO 6 speed to a divorced 205...FTW.

Big block and sand and you like to row your own gears. It doesn't sound like you want a dump truck manual tranny.
