Please help! My husband's birthday is coming up and I have over heard him talking about making his rear window that is manual to a power and I was wanting to get the parts for him for his birthday. We own an '84 K5. Will a power motor even mount up in the manual tailgate or am I going to have to go on a search for a already powered window tailgate? BTW any suggestions on where we can find a snorkel set up for it? it's a 305.

Everything inside the gate will need to be changed (the window regulator, electric motor obviously, and the outside crank needs to be swapped for the key type). It will be cheaper to just find him a good used power tailgate and let him swap the "guts" over OR just swap the whole tailgate and then he will also need to find/buy a switch for the dash and the wiring to go along with it.

Ok, thanks for the fast feed back. Do you know a good place to check on that I've been searching ebay and stuff. We have a couple of salvage yards here I need to try. Would LMC be my best bet?

This is very awesome of you. Yeah LMC would be your easiest bet, but also the most expensive. Your cheapest route would be a local U pull it lot but it would be a lot of work and they probably wouldn't even have a k5 blazer.

He works very hard and doesn't have a lot of time to search for parts, so it's the least I can do, he's a very good man. I've looked everywhere online and seems like K5 parts are hard to come by, Ugh lol Thanks for the help!

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. If your crank window works fine don't fix it. My last two blazers both had electric rear windows that never failed to agravate, would'nt open, wouldn't close, get stuck in the middle, and always would fail at the worst possible times. Pouring rain, freezing cold, arms filled with bags. late for work, ect. Can easily be converted, just be sure you want to.
Well just playing devils advocate, if you really have your heart set, I have a new cable and new key switch I can donate to the cause. Let me know when your ready.

Not to rain on your parade....but, I have to agree on this......I much prefer the manual crank ones......the electric ones worked marginal at best....and will fail at the worst time....

wish I had a wifey that searched out parts for me while I was hard at work....:D

Thank You for all your input, it's very helpful, but that's just it though, his manual window doesn't work. Im also going to get the kit that changes his doors to power. Have any suggestions on that? Found one on LMC. Anyone know where to get a snorkel kit for a 305? He used to have some hummer exhaust he wanted to use but something happened to it when we got out of the Marines and moved home.
