I just finished up swaping a sm465 from a 82 1 ton into my 86 blazer. When I tried to hook up the z-bar it will not fit between the bellhousing and the bracket, it is about a 1" or 2" away from the bellhousing when on the bracket, am i doing something wrong, or is a 86 blazer meant for hydralic?

could bee...

I know my friends 86 K20 has a hydraulic clutch master and slave cylinder in it..I dont know the exact year they changed from manual to hydraulic, but it was right around that year ,somewhere in the mid-80's..No way to make the manual setup work??..maybe someone else here has done it,and will know more...  ...

85 and later was hydro... but i cannot imagine they changed the frame to match...
i would think you can just move the z-bar bracket mount points without any issues

oh, and just a simple thing: verify that you have the correct z-bar as well

Yeah I am not to sure about the correct z-bar, its from a 82 1ton, I got the guys at the dealership to look up the part number and they said they were the same, can anyone confirm this?

the bracket you are talking about, is it the one on the frame?? did you change it?? if not that bracket is for the shift rod for the auto

we are talking the z-bar.. hoepfully he put that in from the manual.... it has a ball at one end to go into the bellhousing... and slides over the piece that bolts to the frame.. or rivited..... anyhow I didnt get to check.. was busy... ya didnt call me or pm me back!!! ill try later....

I know this post is a little old, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Anybody have a picture of the Z-bar bracker, how it bolts to the bell housing, or the frame. Anything would help at this point...

I have a 87 that I put the sm465 in and the donor was a 79 truck and it all fit just fine the holes where even in the frame for the zbar

That helped a lot, thanks! I just need to get the bushings etc...I got th eZ-bar so am gettign close!

I now have everything installed except that bracket that goes on the frame...anybody have any idea where to get one? I can probably fab one up if someone was willing to give me dimensions...please?

It is GM Part number 6264942, available from GMPartsdirect.com or your local GM dealer. You could find in junkyards I'm sure too, but it's rivited on,so bring your cordless grinder....

Perfect, I ordered the part this morning. With any luck I should have it, and then my truck back on the road, within a short period of time. Thank you for all the help. Merry Christmas...
