ive done it on two trucks including my current one. its actually really easy, everything bolts right in and you just have to run two hot wires to the motor it grounds to the body and get a switch from the dealer or the junkyard.

As far as putting all the power stuff into the manual tailgate it's all a bolt in, at least in the 80's era trucks(pretty sure they all interchange). Not sure if the lock cylinder will interchange.

After a conversation with a family friend(a mechanic at a GM dealer as well), I decided the headache of the electric window wouldn't be worth the convenience. The cable that's attached to the lock cylinder is prone to breakage and in general can be a pain the butt.

I figure it would be better than my manual, where it takes 3 minitues to get the window down, and like 10 minutes to get it back up.:doah:

you got a new truck which mean it doesnt have the wear on it that mine does. Ive greased it and cleaned up but it still does the same thing. And I know for a fact that the handels bad.

I almost went out of my way about 2 years ago to swap my electric setup for a manual setup. It's so hard to find parts for the electric setup around here that aren't ruined. Ended up buying a used rust free gate with all the internals for $1000 installed on my truck at the dealership. They had to ship the gate up from Georgia.

LMC has the complete handle/crank mechanism with a lock for $39.95. Easy install

Edit - They have everything you need from glass to the entire mechanism

yeah dude i would just redo that manual then, my handel broke after i got the truck, fixed it and no problem, i dont have anything near your year so idk what you need but i would just think all the internals for the manual, that or rip it apart and see what it needs first. My truck aint that new, only got 8 years on you haha. Yours seems to be in much better shape :-P

You'd Think so but I got 199,500 miles on the truck, 4,000 or 5,000 on the engine, I redid the carpet, Seats where recovered, the the rust free body from California Deserts was painted in 2004 and I got it in fall 06. so basicaly the body is nice but all the old peices are pretty warn out.

Also need to redo the drivers side window, the splines for the crank hadle are almost completely gone, so almost everytime I shut my door the crank handle flys off. :haha::doah:

Do you have to take the window out to get to the bolt that hold the outside crank in?

I seem to remember at one point reading that the window itself was different in the power vs. manual trucks. Can anyone confirm?

I bought a power tailgate a few years ago, but never used it. Last time I checked, you could hear glass rattling around in the box.

So if my stock window is unusable, I'd need to find a used power window.

I'm still trying to figure out the trick of getting the weather stripping off and removing the window to replace it. I have the new weatherstrip, but I can't figure out how to get the old stuff off and get the new stuff on...It doesn't stop water for nothin'

Water + electric tailgate = bad news...

No. open your tailgate, take the inner panel off, roll "up" the window (awkward) and undo the bolts. my "friend" pulled the old handle right off the back of my jimmy goofing around:mad: made him buy me a new one. seems to me, that all the older gm stuff is all very logically laid out. parts swap easily, etc. now im rambling.

If you look at the LMC catalog, the answer is no. I know that it shows the same glass with no option to say it is for a power window or manual.

Good to know...

Side question... were K5's ever offered with rear-defrost in the glass? If so that'd be a nice upgrade.

Take it from me, I live in Wisconsin also. I remember my Dads 77 burb with the power window.........a PITA in the winter do to the freezing cold and snow. He always &itched about wanting to put in the manual crank style.

None that I have ever seen. It would become an issue with the window going up and down. It would be a great option if someone could figure it out, but as far as I know, none of the Blazers prior to 92 had an option for it.
