manual tranny+np203 combo?

thanks guys for all the help, i,m a lot better informed now ! and i,m going for the: 440 hp,383/sm465/np203 swap. if its nothing i always can go back too autotranny 383/th350/np203.my plan is too rebuild my own np203(behind the th350) and maybe too rebuild the sm465. i think i,m gonne have a little more horses on the wheels now (because a manual tranny doesn,t eat that much hp as an automatic) thanks again and any!!! advise is welcome!!!!

Honestly, I would just inspect the 465, they are a tough tranny, prolly won't need to rebuild it, just make sure you have a good clutch:D

This topic interests me so this will be my first post here. I have ran the 203 behind a standard and auto tranny. I loved them both. I guess I dont Know what "slop" you guys are talking about, my standard tranny with 203 ran the same as my auto with 203. I know you all will think I am crazy but I replaced my 205 for a 203 in my 72. I just like the full time 4WD, you never lock in the hubs and I hardly ever have to shift into lock. I am running my 203 behind a cummins 5.9 with probably 400-450 torque, I dont think they are as weak as some people think. I also get 15-20 mpg on the hiway with this set up. Just my 02. I wish they still made full time Tcases.
Yeah, don't get me wrong, I really like the full time 203 especially in really slick conditions like snow or slimey wet clay. with the centre diff unlocked you can get good traction without driveline windup.
I just disliked it behind a manual trans. each to their own eh!:D
