Fellas, I need some electrical help...

I went ahead and did the fan swap last year. Purchased the Mark 8 fan from a member here, built a killer shroud on top of a 6.2l diesel radiator for my little 350. Fan motor just took a digger and I ordered a factory new one. Note; it is all wired with relays and has worked flawlessly since the install.

I get the shroud out, drill out the rivets holding the motor in, can't turn it by hand..thing is smoked. I install the new motor, lock nuts, reinstall the shroud and plug in the same plug I just removed.

The fan is all hooked up, go to jump the thermostatic switch and nothing!:doah:

I plug in the old motor, is jumps and stops, again its fried but I still get some reaction.

What gives? Could I have a bad motor out of the box? Just purchased at ORiellys for over a $100!

Not sure what is going on but if you are close, I've got an extra Mark 8 fan in my garage. You can have it free. Originally had that set up, but started stripping the truck down and went back to mechanical.

Are both motors equipped with the 3 prong plugs? Try using the other power prong, keep the ground the same, and jumper them to your battery.

Thanks for the offering the fan, I may take you up on it. I have followed your build thread and dig the work so far.

As for the fan. I got into it this morning and started trouble shooting it. Come to find out the fan is not a 2 speed like my other one was. My power supply was into one of two connectors and once I switched it over to the other input it worked. So a quick rewire of the connector and it was back up and running.
