Marman Flange

My exhaust is leaking. Thought it was the dang headers, nope. Time to figure out this new to me vband crap I've got at the collectors. I've had em apart a few times so I already knew there was some kind of graphite coated paper gasket in there. Went to two supply houses. Orielly tried to be as helpful as possible, advanced, well it's not stock so forget about it. My local muffler shop was even perplexed. I found this video. Any of you guys ever dealt with Marman flanges?

The only experience I have with Marman exhaust fittings is selling them. As mentioned in the video, Deutz engines use the Marman fittings on industrial vehicles equipped with a Deutz engine. I supply parts for Ground Support Equipment (GSE) used on airports. Many of the pieces of equipment used in GSE equipment use Deutz engines. When ever we need to get replacement exhaust parts for these pieces of equipment we have to go to a company called Tug/Textron. This stuff is not cheap, but the airlines have the deep pockets to afford these parts. The company in this video are one of the few (if not only) company making the Marman exhaust fittings I have heard of.

I ended up ordering a replacement band and four high temp fiber instead of metal graphite gaskets from GSE on ebay. One of my bands threads striped somehow.

I have seen those alot on semis. I did not know they were called a Marman Flange. They use them with gaskets for semi exhaust with all the Catalytic converters and DPFs that have real high exhaust backpressure and can't have any external leakage at all.

That guy in the video from GSE mentioned they are used in Diesel and aerospace applications. They started making em in smaller diameters (down to 2.5 I believe) for us regular folk.

My collectors use 3"
