My MC has finally got too bad to ignore. It's the plastic kind on my 1/2 ton Suburban. Anyone know which metal MCs are a direct swap? Main differences I've seen are bore sizes, the line fittings seem to all be 9/16 and 1/2. Does different bores make the size of the housing different or will most bolt up the same?

I got a almost new master from a 85 2wd you can have cheep . been off truck in shop for few years . was working when removed for brake upgrade .

p.s. I have metal cant ever get the newer ones to seal up and not leak .

Any pressing reason you want metal? I went back to plastic. Don't know if it's common or not, but my MC formed rust against the seal on the cap, when I took it apart to bleed, master started leaking from there.

I know folks tend to think plastic is inferior, but for this situation, unless you need it to bear weight or something, I think plastic is more than adequate. Plus, I'd guess the piston bore is less likely to corrode, being AL.

I just used whatever fit from an earlier year Blazer to get metal, can't recall what year. But the front/rear lines had to be bent (not an issue with the factory coiled brake lines), they were reversed at the MC between the two styles.

No I just don't like plastic parts . BUT I just noticed the plastic seems to be a Dual Bore and the metal ones Single. Yeah when the diesel got swapped out to gas my wifes cuz swore I had to lose the hydroboost and when we did the MC lines we had to switch them like you mentioned. Thanks for the info though :saweet:
