MASTER PLANS INSIDE

Re: MASTER PLAN

I agree. Since he needs a 2WD steering box for c/o I should have said order it "ram ready", and he can hook up the rest later.

I thought for sure my frame was cracked at the p/s box mounts, but it was'nt. I added the steering brace, and welded in the plates because I had them anyway. Great mod. for the frame area.

Hey there Tim /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Not to quote you.....but im confused. In the first part of your reply you told me to buy the hydro now.In the same reply you told me to buy it later /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif So crossover NOW ......and keep the hydro handy and ready for later???? /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif Crossover first? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re-read it. I told you to buy the box NOW. The ram and hoses themselves can come later. But the box is a good upgrade.

That way you only swap boxes once. You'll need the 2wd sector shaft for crossover, and the drill/tap job for hydro assist. Kill two birds with one stone with a WTO box.

Re: MASTER PLAN

Not that it means anything, but I have to say I agree with Tim on this one.

And he's right about the steering box brace too!

I didn't start selling these things to make money. I sell them because:

1. I ripped my frame apart and wanted to increase everyone's awareness as to how serious of an issue this is.

2. I wanted to offer the best price available for the steering braces on the market.

I've accomplished both of those thus far and I hope to continue to do so in the future. The bolt on brace is VERY helpful in stiffening the front portion of these frames.

Hipinion,

I do have Sky's crossover, you're correct. It is a very nice product. I got it for $319 to the door but he raised the price now. It is a complete kit with pitman arm, drag link and ends, steering arm, and studs.

My only complaint is that it came with cheap chinese ends for the drag link. I'll be upgrading to quality MOOG chassis parts when those ends wear out.

If you have any other questions when you're doing the buildup, send me a PM. I have no problem answering questions, I get PMs on a daily basis asking for opinions on various issues.

My first suggestion is that you get the majority of the rig together, and make the minor modifictions a weekend at a time until you feel that it is ready to leave the yard. That's what I do...I plan the projects long in advance and order the parts at least a month ahead.

and rather stout aside from the 700.

[/ QUOTE ]Don't worry about his Th700...it will survive probably just about anything he could put against it. He has the exact same internal parts as me along with the same builder that put both together. /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Re: MASTER PLAN

Yep,thats the least im worried about!!!!!! Because the 700r4 was the strongest ,toughest transmission ever MADE !!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Re: MASTER PLAN

Im planning on staying with a 700r4. I like auto better for offroading. Im planning on getting a BTO though. At least a stage 3 possibly stage 4 though. Might as well spend the extra $400 and get the best one. It'll be bad for DD but by the time I get it the truck will be a trail only K5.

Re: MASTER PLAN

Didn't realize his 700 was already built. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

I know that they can be built strong enough for what most of us want them to do.
I just have to fix other things (cars) and get my axles done before I buy my built 700 /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif/forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif
