Max lift, no other changes?

Going to mess withthe truck a bit today, going to try and find outthe gear ratios, where in my glove box should I be looking?

Also, what are the upgrades like dropped pitman arm and..I thought there was another I cant remember doing for you when you raise the truck?

I want to raise 4 inchs suspension, what is the easiest thing I can do to fix all the angles and such? Dropped pitman arm sounds relatively easy, is it?

The RPO sticker will be on the inside of the glovebox door. Just open it up and it should be staring you in the face.

Raised steering arm? You should only need either a drop pitman arm or raised steering arm. The hardest part is getting the old one off. You'll need to rent or borrow a puller to get the pitman arm off.

I didn't have to use a puller to get mine off. All I did was take the cross bolt out and the arm came right off.

Thanks, how DO I drop a pitman arm? Is there something I can buy that will go from its old location to a new lower one? Or is it something people have to Fab up themselves?

If you buy a dropped pitman arm, you should be set. The geometry is different in a dropped pitman arm - no real good way to describe it other than dropped. It still connects to the steering box at the same height, but the part that connects to the drag link is lower. Make sure you know what you are doing before you go messing with steering components though.

I mean, ive changed a pitman arm before, but normally its spend an hour getting the old one out, new one bolts right into its place.

Is there somewhere I can buy the pieces for a dropped pitman arm or raised steering arm? So I can see what they look like and thus what they will be doing.

I assume both of them just bolt into the parts original space, and then have another spot raised or lowered depending on the part that you bolt it to right?

Oh, lol I was expecting something more complicated for some reason, thats easy enough, just install like normal but its dropped a little, haha.

Now, can I buy one of these from somewhere for my truck if I wanted to put a lift on her?

Have fun changing out the steering arm, I'd try to find a kit that has a pitman arm for steering correction. I would recommend getting rear lift springs or a shackle flip instead of blocks, and Tuff country springs over the rough country.

What are your plans for this truck? Is it going to be street driven regularly? What type of off roading are you into......mud, rocks, hills???

My buddy has rough country lift in his truck, I like the way it rides, big fan of the rougher riding trucks, to a degree.

Id love to go springs in back, but blocks are going to have to do for now, no idea what is required in a shackle flip???

My plans are street driven semi-regularly, it will be a daily driver for a while until I can get another car to drive everyday for gas. I hope to be doing mostly hills and mud I guess, havent had any real experience off roading yet, nothing really around here, dont think the rock-style really appeals to me much though, seems too easy to break expensive things, lol.

Can I buy a dropped pitman arm somewhere seperately to use with that lift kit instead of the steering arm correction?

IMHO, that kit is all you will need. Just change the arm.....it's not that hard to do. I started with a 4" ProComp on my 90 and had a few driveline vibes. I ended up spacing my transfer case down 3/4" to eliminate them. Guys on here will disagree, but I have had zero problems for 3 years now since. From what you are telling me, that kit will be just what you need.

Thanks alot, forgot about this thread. Assuming Id rather change the pitman arm.(I would) where can I get a dropped one??

The arm comes with that kit.

"Front leaf springs, steering arm, brake line relocation brackets, u-bolts, polyurethane buchings, 4 RC Hydro 8000 series shocks, and an option of rear 4" blocks or rear leaf springs."

Yes, id rather change the Pitman arm and not the steering arm, should be much easier. So I am looking for where i can get a dropped pitman arm for our trucks.

?? You will need to buy a pitman arm puller to get the pitman arm off.
All you need to get the steering arm off is to take off a few bolts and a few wacks with a big hammer. Pretty simple. Rough country lift kits come with a raised steering arm. You dont have to buy anything.
