ran into an old buddy of mine yesterday. he is currently working at a marine engine shop. we got to talking about getting me some roller lifters for my small block build when he said that they have 502 cores stacked up like cordwood. he says that they rebuild the engines to stock specs which means that if the block needs boring out, they put a sleeve in it. if the block needs more than 3 sleeves installed, they "scrap" the block. said he could get me a core 502 including heads and a marine 4bbl intake for $500 or trade for a set of 05 z71 wheels that i may have laying around.

so my real question is this: how much can a 502 be bored out? i'm not that worried about the crank since the 502's and 454's have the same stroke, maybe a different balance, but the deal is good enough to give it a shot.
