So I finally got around to replacing my cracked dash pad. New one is from Dashes Direct, vinyl, I painted it M09 blue.

After a bit of trimming, fitting, trimming, fitting about a hundred times, all is good until I go to install the dash panel. And it will fit and line up on the upper right, but the upper left corner seems to need maybe 1/8 to fit without splaying the bottom out of line.

I wonder if I could maybe heat the vinyl up just a bit and nudge it with flat tool rather than guess with a razor. 20220527_144951.jpg20220527_144921.jpg20220527_145051.jpg

My frustration level was on the moon, so I left it for awhile. After much shaving with a single edged razor and a couple more refits, I got er did.
New speakers, etc. Looks pretty good. The rear pic is just for show. Original interior, new carpet a long time ago is also when I added the 10" sub and did the side panels.

I'm kinda embarrassed to say I have a dash carpet available if someone wants it. 20220531_140254.jpg20220531_140323.jpg20220531_150736.jpg20220531_150800.jpg 20220531_140323.jpg

looking good. I have a dash topper (carpet) on mine, the dash pad has typical age issues.

My old work the journeymen used those Wypalls to wrap their beers

That looks great! Not sure what it is about these dashes, but I have found that the left hand corner has the same issue amongst different makers. This is a Cheyenne Pick-Up dash and as you can see I have the same issue in the upper left corner. LMC dashes have the same issue. If you search Youtube for the LMC with Kevin Tetz he claims in the vid that this small gab is actually normal. I have no idea if that is true or not. Wouldn't seem like it.

Nice job. Your interior looks great.

20220606_201449.jpg20220606_201523.jpgI got mine to fit by shaving that bit where the metal humps up in front of the vin plate, carefully around the speaker mesh and I shaved the side down so it wasn't a "force" fit, but snug.

That's freakin' delicious. What "M09 Blue" did you use, I've got a '79 with the blue interior and a new dash is part of my future as well.
