I got a 1990 GMC Suburban 350 Gas. And sorry if i keep asking questions about diesels however i just think its interesting. I got a V1500 4x4.

I was however thinking of getting a diesel version also but in 3 quarter ton and 4x4 with a 700r4 Transmission and keep the gas as a backup.

Or if not a Suburban then maybe a CUCV BLAZER with a diesel .

Good idea?

For what purpose. The 6.2 is slow I mean slllllloooooooowwwwwwww.

But if you get over that my stock 84 with slightly larger tires a 700r4 and 3.73s consistently turns in 19 mpg.

It's fine towing say under 5k actually alot better at 4k or under. It will tow more but it's very very slow and it gets hot.

It's a mileage motor. It really doesn't even make much torque. But it's fine for a daily driver. I often wish I had a gas motor but 19mpg is hard to beat even with diesel being more expensive

I dont mind it being slow. Im pretty aware of that. I just want the same thing but with a heavier frame with a 4x4 and better fuel mileage. The gasser i have will be a back up. And i dont tow much at all amd if i did it will be light. Nothing heavy plus i like to try out a diesel since i ahvent owned one. But yes it is slow but i dont mind lol

I see you mention diesel being expensive. Here in new orleans regular fuel the lowest is around 1.77 to 1.89 a gallon while diesel is around 1.99 to 2.10 a gallon

2 things.

#1, 3/4-ton rigs did not come with 700R4 transmissions.
#2, Military rigs also did not come with 700R4 transmissions.

Either way, GM didn't offer O/D in a 3/4-ton square body unless you can find a 1991 3/4-ton Suburban with a 4L80e automatic. If you want mileage you may want to stick with the 1/2-ton models.
