I have been wanting to get this rig of mine done for sometime now that I have moved to a Rustbelt area every spot that was scratched has started to rust.

I started by cutting the front fender tip where the tire hits. Here is some pictures. This will be on going and because of work it's going to be a slow go at it.

Just to give some kind of idea how the rust progressed.

I cut the first fender and started to weld it back together TAKE YOUR TIME HERE!! rushing it will make you more work.On the front of the fender the body line comes down and turns back to the front door,I stopped it at the end of the marker light.

Had a buddy move from Colorado to Minnesota, then 2 yrs later, back to Colorado. He left with a clean Blazer and came back with something I remember driving as a teenager. It's amazing what 2 yrs of salt can do.

Don't forget to protect the back side of your work, looking good on what you've accomplished so far!! Are those holes welded shut or just skimmed over?

The dreaded salt. last year I had a white film stuck on almost everything under my rig so I went to steam cleaning things. This year I don't have to drive it every day so happy about that.

I have welded all the seams and holes it is very time consuming one spot at a time.

new pics added

Got the lower rear fender tip installed.Have not had much time the last few weeks to do much my job owns me most of the week and now I am on call this week:( I guess it's better than being unemployed!!

Got a surprise when I opened up the fender.the inside was just as rusted so I had to cut and repair that also. As you will see in the next few pics the patch panel fit real good except the end that meets the door.It was bent at a 90* gm did not do this.So I had to gring the very edge and leave the inside of the fender and cut off the edge of the new panel and weld the edge to make it look right.

These two pics show the deliverances in good old gm steel and the replacement stuff.

Now when the weather lets up going to start on the door.

That's crazy!! The amount of gap you'd need for the door to open would be hideous!

I won't be doing anything to this door ,This is what I found when I got started today.By the time I get a inner and outer panel to do this I might as well get a door.

Yup, that door is junk...it's not like good doors are hard to find. I have my own personal collection now. ;)

Top off and

Being redone.Tired of seeing white chalk running down the back and sides of my truck.I feel better after having surgery a week ago.Been lurking around here for the last few weeks and on pain meds now I feel its time to get this done...I have yet to get my door and the rest of the truck done although I had done some work on the tailgate before the knife...

Here is the top before we begin and tearing it down.
