The auto store by me had 800cca blue top Optima. For 120 each. more then i thought it would be. how are these? desent batteries? Could not find 1000cca. i was thinking the dealership, but i dont think i would have the$$ for that. thx for the help

I don't know your area much but if you go to sears, you will find 1000CCA batteries for less than the optimas.
Not that the optimas are bad but you probably don't need what they offer.
Even a 950 or 900 CCA is better than 650 but DO get 2 same size same age.
If they are different they will drain each other or actually one will drain the other and that will make a weak setup that is not up to the task and it would burn the other battery.

there is a shop like that near me that i forgot about. i will go give them a shot. thx

Well, i tryed everything in the tm, and nothing. Could all the gp burn out? Would that cause the realy not to cycle? Relay is new by the way. I have no idea what it could be......

anyone have some ideas i could try??

Bad temp inhibit switch? Bad glow plug controler? why not switch to manual control?

Have you checked the gp's? All you need is a test light...alligator clip on the + of the battery, then touch the spade part of the GP with the test light probe. If the test light lights up the GP is good, if no light then the GP is dead.

I run a pair of 1000 CCA AC Delco batteries and 2 ga wires with the gear drive starter...

Glow plug relay
Sorry to highjack the thread, but I was wondering about your set up. Did you have the newer style GP relay? A friend was cleaning out his garage and gave me a relay just like the one you have. If yours was the newer style GP relay, was wondering what color are the wires on the small terminals in the picture? I'm pretty sure the pink, pin C, wire is from the ignition, but just not sure what the other wire is or what it's for. I was under the impression that for a remote relay you just needed battery power in and out to the GP's and a wire from the ignition. Momentary switch would be spliced into the ignition wire.

thx rene what is a gear drive starter? I thought they all are.

The older starters are direct drive, the newer 28MT starter is a gear reduction starter. The 28MT is a great starter, long lasting and is easier on the batteries.
