Rusty (the trailer dealer) said they were strong enough and not to worry about it. However, I am all about going over board so I built these. The diamond plate is 1/8" thick, so I think it would hold up.

Thats what mine are too and they hold up fine but your fender ramp is sweet. :waytogo:

:D I'll never tell. lol

Here's a couple pics of the K5 loaded up. Took a 400 mile trip this weekend and it pulled great. Except the little 6.0 liter had some issues on the hills. 4K rpms pulling the hills sure makes one nervous. And that was to maintain 60 mph...

I think I make my neighbors nervous when the tow setup is in my driveway. :D

Man, I'm jealous! That trailer looks like it likes the K5, no sagging or anything. You still have plenty of room too.

Now... post up the wheeling pics!! :woot:

DAMN....nice house DP. You need to have us over for a BBQ or something. Rig set up looks nice. Glad the 6.0 held together. Talk to you later.

Thanks - You guys are welcome anytime. btw, I got your brake controll ready to install.

The trailer pulled really well, except for the slightly underpowered 2500HD. We had a really bad side wind on the way home, but we had no problems with the trailer swaying or anything. :D

Come on over. Might be a long trip for John though -

Yeah, I was going to swing by on my way home one day last week but the traffic was horrible. Maybe some other time. :D

Now, about those wheeling pics...

Why would 4,000 RPM make you nervous? The LS1 based engines were made to rev, the torque peak isn't until 4,000 IIRC (but flat from 1200-4000). The only way to get any power with a gas engine is to downshift and let it rev. Don't worry about it--that's the way it was designed to be used.

The pics are in the works. They should be posted to the extreme site soon. I'll post a link asap.

That's what I understand. A buddy of mine pulled a 5th wheel with his and he said it tacked 5K all day long... That is crazy.

He went to a DMax after putting 90K on his 2500.

Good lookin' trailer Daniel:waytogo: I like the new digs. We are gonna be up in your neck of the woods this weekend. Takin' some friends of Krennen's to Diz:pimp: Finally got the front axle swapped in to match the rear, so I'm officially 4WD again (actually 3-but who's countin'?). You ought to run up and see us:ears: Krennen is going to be staying at Roger's Cabins. He'll be there Friday night. Me and another guy won't be there until Saturday Morning.

John

My old '87 C30 was the same way with a well worn 350. 2nd gear, 45-50 MPH, 5,000 RPM just to stay going on a small hill.

I learned quickly myself that gas isn't the preferred tow rig.

I would love to go, but we have prior obligations this weekend. Krennen shot me an email, but it wouldn't let me reply to it.

Glad your getting yours back together. It's' been down a while. Time for an axle upgrade yet???

Hey I upgraded, these are 30 spline axles out of a 1990:doah: They even have the DEEP 3.42 gears:screwy:
Too bad you have prior engagements, it's gonna be fun.

John

Looks like it was a fun weekend, too bad you can't make Diz. I am sure there will be more trips this year, especially since I have got my own trailer now:D .
