Boy it's slow in here. :(

Got an ALDL cable from a member on here (awesome BTW, great guy, appreciate his patience), and he told me he could never get it to work. I figured I'd try it, see if it worked for me. No dice. Worked for about 5 minutes, then nothing. Mark Mansur (of TunerPro RT fame http://www.tunerpro.net/ ) happens to live near me and responded to my post on Thirdgen.org about the problems I was having trying to use TunerPro RT with this cable.

So we set up a time tomorrow, and I'm gonna meet up with him, and he's going to work with me to see if the cable is the issue, or something else extremely weird is going on.

Really looking forward to it, I wish I could have had the datalogging setup running a lot earlier.

Added the Vortec timing maps (modified to be smaller/less comprehenseive since they are too large for the TPI timing maps) to my chip, and idle is a bit better, and pinging is gone. Just want to make sure I'm not running it lean at times, and I'll try to fix a weird 1-2 low speed/RPM "chuggle".

Need to make sure fueling is figured out better...I know the MAF isn't flowing what it thinks it is with the different heads and exhaust.

At some point I'd like to get lean burn working, see if I can't get another mile or two out of it. Looks like I lost a bit of MPG going with the Vortec timing maps, I'm running about a minimum of 10* timing across the board now, even more at some points.

Met with Mark Saturday. What a nice guy!

We tried to get the ALDL working in a mall parking lot, no good, although he was able to connect with his setup.

Since he lives fairly close to where we met up, went over to his house, and he brought all his tuning goodies out and worked on my setup for a good hour minimum! Turns out the ALDL cable I got was bad (kind of expected) but he hooked me up with another one for free that he had no further use for. Was going to sell me an emulator for VERY cheap, but turns out after sitting on the shelf for some time, the emulation part of it died. Pretty cool to see it in action though, tune on the fly!

Talked a bit about tunerpro, said it's gotten so big he can't even support all the requests, as it's just a hobby for him. He did ask that if I had to buy anything in the future that I go through Craig (Moates.net), and I have in the past. Craig actually does it for a living.

Anyways, figured I better close my thread out. Finally able to datalog!

Wow that's cool! :D

I have the tunerPro RT and have recorded data before but could not figure out how to use the data to update the bin. Gave up and went back to the old WinALDL data and the slow pace of updating tables in CATS tuner or Tuner Pro to burn a chip with my Pocket Programmer III.

Do you have any information on how to use the data from recording with TunerProRT and adjusting the bin with the same program?

I know how to mess with the bin, been doing that for awhile.

Haven't had a chance to work with the data that is recorded in Tunerpro. Watched with the dash as everything happened, values of O2, LV8, etc., but haven't recorded, played back, and had a glance at where my problems might be.

I'm assuming you have the datalogs (or at least recorded data), and want to use those to adjust the bin? Adjustment of the bin is still "manual" with you changing each cell or flag, whatever, but I need to make sure I understand what you want to do. :)

Well that's it. I thought maybe the recording data and adjusting bin in the same program had some specail features per say.

Apparently on the 6E and 8E masks there is a program out there that will "rough in" the air fuel ratio calcs, but other than that, AFAIK it's all manual.

Now if you get the Ostrich(? I think, check Southerspeeds old posts) I believe that will automatically tune as you drive. That'd be sweet for multiple rigs, but even the emulator that Mark showed me was $350, and I wouldn't get enough use to justify that.
