When did this come about?? I've been out of the loop for several months after selling my old K5. Man, this site has change a lot. I just got another K5 so I'm back in action. What does the new $25 membership fee get me? Don't get me wrong.. just using the forum is worth a couple bucks a year. I'm just wondering, what more there is to offer since you don't have to be a paying member to use the forum.

click on the join CK5 on the front page it explanes everything

<font color=blue> I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy!

It also ensures the site stays up and running! That's enough reason for me!

If it breaks, it wasn't good enough!

Yup.......Steve almost had to close the site down because bandwidth charges were coming out of his own pocket every month. $2 a month is pretty cheap to keep my fave site on the net alive!!!!!

fad,

The membership part is optional....but like most people here, I feel that this site is a TREMENDOUS resource for information and is a great community to have access to.

While many people believe the internet is a free entity and all "content" should be free.....the reality is that sites like this take a HUGE amount of effort and dedication and expense to administer and moderate. NOTHING of value is ever free.....the only question is "Who do you expect to pay for all of this?"

For me personally, I decided to join as a gesture of appreciation to Steve and the others that run this site. I could have done nothing, and continued hang-out here and get lots of "free" advice, but for me sending in a few bucks felt like the right thing to do....

Sorry if this ended up sounding like a lecture....everyone is welcome to do whatever feels right to them, and I would never try to "pressure" someone into sending money.

the more members there are the better the chances of a group discount, like the 10% off at 4wpw, you could save your 25 bucks on the first purchase, besides where else can ya have so much fun for 2 bucks a month

Being a Job Steward in my CWA Union local, I don't think so much in terms of "What's in it for me"......I think ...."What's in it for Us"....small price to pay to insure this site stays up and growing.....the people in here are good company, also......JD

Stuck?...Hell no..I still got some gas left..

Cheaper then buying a bunch of manuals. Plus lots of times these folks will help you more then you asked for. Like volunteering to show up at your house. I dare the Chilton book to come over and help fix my carb!
