Not long ago I seen an install in here where a guy put newer (I think '05) rear seats from an extended cab into a CC square.

I can't find the build or thread now :dunno:
I'm wanting to do this because the factory seat, all though super comfy, SUCKS for mounting a child's car seat.
It's too cushy and you just can't get it tight enough.

If anyone has done this or knows where to direct me it would be greatly appreciated.

I know someone here in norcal did this a long time ago he even incorporated the dash and guages to go with his ls swap.
I will see if I can find it.

I'm not sure how far the one I'm thinking of went... But I seen it within bthe last month or so on here. It seemed like a fairly simple install. If I find the info I'll probably try and do the matching fronts too.

I have the rear seat from a 2002 express van in my 1991 v3500 crew rear. Was not a bolt in but easy to build brackets. Child seats work great, the seat foam is much better for using the child seats. I retained the factory seatbelts but also have the option of using the van double center lap belts. If I want I can have 4 people in the back seat with belts, the 2 stock gm shoulder belts and the 2 van center lap belts. I also used the front buckets to match.

I'm going to have to Google van seats

The front van buckets are fine but sit about an inch higher than I would have liked. Could not get them any lower while still retaining the tracks. I still have headroom and I am 6'2", I just would have liked a bit lower by if I could have.

It fits, but I've sat in it with all my weight, and pulled the belt as tight as it'll go, and the seat wobbles if you push it. I can push it down into the seat a couple inches, and push it back into the seat or pull it forward a couple inches. It should be SOLID and not move at all. I have to hold the car seat back just to pull the strap that tightens his harness.

I’m not sure what seat your using but , mine fits perfectly in my crew cab and my burb with no issues, now that my boy is 5 he just uses a booster seat , which is even easier.

Here’s the thing , seat swaps in square bodies very rarely look or fit right .

I would much rather trust my kids safety to the factory seat and belt setup then to some hodgepodge bs from another rig.

It doesn't fall over going around a corner or anything, but in a wreck mine would be all over the place. My burb was almost as bad but not quite. A booster would be fine. But he can't use one yet. And we have some nephews even younger that go with us at times.

Not sure if it's a stock seat or not, beings that it's a custom truck. But sitting in it is like a couch or lazyboy.... I want firm foam like the modern ones. And preferably with the built in car seat anchors. That'd be much simpler and better

Not with a car seat that moves around... If it's not solid it's not safe.

Again I’m not sure what seat style your using , but mine doesn’t move an inch .

Your dually probally does have aftermarket conversion seats ,

I just want the newer ones. Part of the issue with these is the cushiness let's me pull it down far enough for the belt to run out of room to get tighter. The buckle mechanism on the one side it too tall.

My mom works at a custom cut cushion place. I thought about buying a chunk there on here discount of much higher density foam. :dunno:

I think it would be easier to swap newer seats in though. I know how to fab it safe. And I plan on a complete color change eventually, so that would be a start

You may try looking at the seats out of the ‘14-18 body style seats, I was very impressed with my seats in my ‘16 GMC. I can’t comment on how they’d mound for sure as they were floating (a feature that is very nic) I do have an LBZ (07) crew and if you want me to send pics/measurements I can help you out there.

The ones in my 15 bolted to a shelf and slid over prong like things that were mounted to the back of the cab. I think that type may not work. Because the shelf in these is taller. But I may be able to mod that... I need to take a back seat out and do measurements.

Stay below 2007 as GM did away with the seat belt designed for car seats in the third row seats. You cannot buy that belt from GM either.

I'd be looking at an extended cab, or crewcab rear seat. They have the seat belt anchors in any over '05.

Do crew if you can, ex cab seats are small and uncomfortable. But they’d be good for saving space!

The thread I seen on here used extended cab ones, and it looked alright. I think it'd leave more room for the dogs. But really once I know what I can use it'll come down to which I find in the right and color for the right price.
