I'll probably be changing my Th700R4 on my 90 K5 sooner or later.

I'm probably going to do this myself and never done anything like this.

Is there a book that shows step for step detail for detail photo for photo?

Can I look up anything on here?

Thanks!

A trans change could probably be explained well enough in a Haynes or Chilton manual....how experienced are you at working on HEAVY automotive stuff?

The only thing I can tell you is that I've never needed a manual to swap an auto transmission. Just unbolt everything and remember it's a heavy mofo.

The only "gotcha" I ran into was the fact that pulling the driveshaft out results in all the tranny fluid coming out too, so either drain it first or be ready for the waterfall. :)

I used an ATV jack and pulled the trans and transfer case as one. Taking it out is the easy part. When putting it back in make sure the torque converter is fully seated and the bellhousing sits flat against the block. Don't use the bolts to pull it together. Use a can or 2 of Kooler Klein to flush the transmission cooler. One can one way and one can the other way. Blow it out with compressed air after to dry. You don't want debris in the cooler lines to ruin a new trans. Same goes for the converter but replacement is easier than trying to flush one of those. [/$0.02]

Easy enough job. Take your time and rent or borrow a good transmission jack and take the tranny and t-case down as one makes it easier. if you run into any more questions ask them here.

I got my transfer case out today. Tomorrow it is the tranny.
