I figured this deserves it's own thread....
I've been trying to figure out a direction for my rig, for quite some time.
I love go-fast rigs, but the buggy i'll be building will do that.
I figured, since the K5 was originally built to be a weekend wheeler/gtfo vehicle,
It'd only be appropriate to make it an Expedition style rig.
After all, that's the kind of wheeling I like.... The exploring kind.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
With the topper, I wanted:
- Ease of use.
- Simple storage.
- Simple to build.
- Comfortable quarters, for overnighting/day trips.
I'll be utilizing a storage system similar to this:
The boxes will be shaped around the rear bucket seats.
The panels will be the lower level "floor", when the tent is up.
I suppose it could be used as a spare place to sleep, too....
*Poor Ranger owner's.... This is their only option.
Now that I have the lower level described, we'll move on to the tent....
The tent will be very similar to these, in design, and function.
Also....
The inside will have a ladder to make sleeping-quarters access, easier.
The tent's pole structure will have to be custom, but shouldn't be that difficult.
I've been camping my entire life, and have setup hundreds of styles of tents.
I have complaints about almost all of them...Except our current tent.
I'll copy that structure, for the most part.
The rest will be based on 'high-wind'/ low-profile tents.
