Ive got a '88 GMC with a stock 350 TBI, i am planning on Vortech Heads and Intake and a bigger throttle body, what suggestions on a Cam do you guys have?

From what I have read the TBI's are real sensitive to cam changes. I've read some ppl put bigger than stock cams with a computer flash, but I'm not sure what the limits are. I'm sure someone else will chime in.

To keep it simple, you are mechanically limited on lift to *about* .450" lift with stock Vortec cylinder heads. eqcylinderheads.com(?) makes some replacements that are probably not that limited for probably little, if any more, money. You WILL hear different numbers for max lift, I measured my setup before I put the engine in the truck, and I have less clearance than is typically recommended for a build. I suspect there is some variance for whatever reason in these heads, which is why the numbers are all over the place it seems.

You need a new chip burned if you go with Vortec heads anyways, so you aren't so limited in cam selection. I believe tbichips.com can recommend cams, but I'm not certain on that one. Perhaps someone else can say.
