What did an 86 K5 Military 6.2 Diesel come equipped with. Like axles? 14 bolt? 12 bolt? or 10 bolt? gear ratio? TH400? Th700R4? Anything else? Thanks

The BLAZER's came with 10 bolts frt & rear with 3.08 gears,
6.2, 400, 208.

ditto on that one, ten bolts with 3.08's, gov locked rear, open front, 6.2, TH400, NP208. look at my pics, and look under dads toys. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

3.08's in 86 ? What the hell were the thinking /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I thought they had atleast started using the 3.42's by 86. Oh well. Thanks

Don't know where you came up w/ those axels but that combo was never in a stock Blazer civi or mil-spec. As stated they would have 10B front & rear. The only military truck I know of w/ a D44 f & D60 r was the Dodge P/U (M880).

D60 rear and D44 front

[/ QUOTE ]

I really really wish...

I was in the Seabees for 6yrs working on these trucks and I never had one that didnt have the D60 rear and D44 front! My 86 K30 has the 14FF rear and D60 front, both locked with 4.56 gears. /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

Man I hope you were referring to the old Kaiser 715. I just got my (twenty year) letter, still have CUCVs floating around my motor pool. M1009s (K5) came with 10bolts F&R with a gov-lock in the rear. M1008 series (K30) came with D60/14FF with a No-Spin (locker) in the rear. Only the M1031 and certain M1028 models had a limited slip up front. If the CUCV series (or any other mil-spec vehicle) was fielded differently (with different axles for example) the parts would have to be documented in the TMs made available through the logistical supply system. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

715 didn't have those axles, i am thinking 70's front and rear, closed knuckle

Jeff-Closed knuckle D60 front IIRC. I was just under one a couple weeks ago and don't remember seeing the big lip that is noticable on the D70.
Txstuck-Like I said before, M880 for the 44/60 combo.

seeing as i have an 86 cucv blazer and 2 m882's in my yard, im gonna say 44/60 on the dodge, 44/60 on the cucv p/u's and 10b on the cucv blazer, the M715 has 70/70. the one you were under may have been changed. im not an expert but look at my web shots, i like the military stuff, and own and have owned a few along with my father. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

well, i got a cucv p/u and it has 60/14, with a limited slip in front and detroit in rear with 4.56 gears, model is m1028

i stand corrected, i didnt know the 60 was in production that early. and speaking of all this axle mumbo jumbo, where on a differantial would i find the markings that tell me what it is?

Cool stuff, but...
1st, I didn't see any CUCV P/U in your web shots. I do have one in my driveway, have hauled another, and robbed axels off two more- all were D60/FF14B. M1008's did not come w/ the D44/D60 combo.
2nd, Had an M880- agreed they have the D44/D60FF.
3rd, Hauled an M1009 Blazer- agreed they have 10B/10B.
4th, This one I will not say absoultly, but I am 90% sure on, the M715 has a D60/D70FF. The rear has the larger center section and theirfore more metal below the cover than the front. This is because the the ring gear on a D70 is 3/4" larger in dia than a D60.

kool, now pleading like a moron, i meant to type that the cucv p/u's had the 60/14, and i wasnt really sure on the d70 front in the 715 i knew it had one some where. sorry for any confussion, and i learn more every day.
