Are the military k5's any beefier than stock(rear end-front end,t-case etc)?Just wondering since they(the government) seem to sell alot of them in pieces didnt know if it was worth bidding on one...thanks

Not really, they have 10 bolts front and rear, and NP208 cases just like the civilian models. The camo paint jobs are cool though. They are also all 6.2 diesels.

Actually, I believe they came with 12-bolt rears which were a little better than the 10-bolts. Other than that, there really isn't that much difference.

I just parked by one today and finally looked under it to my amazement it had two 10 bolts under it.

In my personal experiences with CUCV's (military Blazers), they've all had 10-bolts and open diffs front and rear.

Semper Maintenance!

The majority of M1009s (blazers) came with the gov-loc locking rear differential and 3.08 gears. The only real difference they have are the heavier leaf springs and 31 inch tires and are classified as 3/4 ton vehicals. The M1008's (trucks) are classified as 1 1/4 ton trucks and have 4.56 gears and a detroit locker in the rear and is a 14 bolt rear. Forgot to mention that the Blazers have a 10 bolt rear.

Where's Andy? He could write us a book on this subject!
