Military Diesels

I have had two of them and each time i get one i remember why i sold the other one. They are stripped down, loud, badly geared, and keyed the same as all the other military trucks. So anyone with a key can steal it.

Is diesel really that much better than the 350's?

search for 6.2L, there are opinions, mine? better than the 350? HA, mileage, thats all.

my opinion...6.2 is better. Last longer, twice the fuel mileage and tons better off road. With good gearing acceleration is on par with a stock 350 (my personal experience).

from what I gather.. dont remember the torque but... the 6.2L non turbo is 135hp and turbo'd is 155hp... now I know we want torque... however hp and torque work together.... my truck has a cop motor in it.. 9c1... 195hp/295lbft torque and it sucks.... got parts to upgrade it... I was going to go the diesel way but have been leaned away from that....

Also where do you get that avatar?

6.2 are cool because if they wont start its either fuel, or fuel. If you live in a cold area the preheating system can be a PITA but I think they are cool and crazy simple. The power is comparable to a stock 350 but they get much better mileage and tend to last longer. They are mechainically fuel injected so they will run perfectly fine at any angle offroad.

Unless you expose the oil pump pickup...

... but that's with any engine. :D
