military M1008 and NP208 problem, please help

It had too many slack in it, so the shaft was wobling inside the bushing, thats why I pulled it. Meanwhile I got to speak with a repair guy, who has done a lot repairs on military trucks. He said that GM used heavier bushings from Dodge in the NP208 application and yes, there are plain old stock ones as well available. So I'm off to hunt some Dodge stuff.

NP208 used housing parts are real hard to get in Estonia, if not possible. Of course I could get one from US, but I'll leave that to last resort. New housing extention is discontinued according to the vendors in Estonia.

try looking up the rear main seal for a c30 turbo 400, I think its the same tail housing as the np 208 on the k30

or try talking to transmission specialist

Bringing this thread back from the dead as I've just ran into this same problem. Of course I destroyed the old bushing removing it and the replacement one is too small and doesn't fit and all the parts stores are closed and its just too late to order one overnight :angry1:

This link has some good numbers in it:

I bought mine from napa and it didn't fit, like you have described but I went to the dealer and the OEM one fit like a glove. I don't remember the part number I had though

@Chevy305

I have the same problem. I have tried the 5208 p/n from almost every manufacturer. Same result, all too small on O.D. What did you end up doing?

This is an old thread. OP hasn't been on since 07.
Call torque king they have many hard to find items.
