I need some tow points on the front and back and was looking at using shackel hooks from a 1 ton military truck. Does anybody know if the bracket that goes to the frame on the 1 tons will work on a K5? The front looks like it will work but the rear is the big ?.

I haven't a clue, LOL some help huh.
if they are off a truck the rear frame is totaly different. I would make a shackle hook for the hitch.

the military blazers had the tow shackels on them. I'm not sure if they had the rear ones though

OOOPS....I THINK I JUST RAN OVER YOUR JEEP THING!!!!!

They had them on the K5's and the 1 tons but I have access to 1 tons and none for the K5's.

No but I can get some next time I get to Rogers. The mounts go through the bumpers to the frame so holes will have to be cut in the bumpers.

I don't have bumpers...is that a problem?? I was just going to box the frame horns front and rear and weld in some tubing so i can use a big d shackle when needed.

No bumpers should make it easier.

Not for airlifting, but for tieing down. Vehicles tend to move around abit when they're loaded on flatbeds, railcars, in aircraft, etc. Yes the M1009 CUCV had shackels front and rear. I'ld have to check to see how different they are from the M1008.

Real trucks don't have spark plugs!

The front bumpers from the military pick-ups will bolt up to your Blazer but you may have to drill a couple extra holes. The rear will be different but you could make it work with some effort, go to page 14 in the members rides section and click on the M1009 to see the front and rear bumpers, even my old truck had the mil. front bumper on it. You can replace the black-out lights with regular running lights and they wont get messed up because they are recessed.
Get one of the rear bumpers from Roger thats bend-up and rob the hardware from it and see what you have to do to make it work, they mount on the outside of the frame so it maybe just some drilling.

Will those bumper fit an 1989 non millitary K5? Is there a surplus dealer that you can purchase them from?

Thanks Kent

I have seen a helicopter(UH-60) slingload a CUCV by the shackels, I'm not sure if it's authorized or not. It's been a long time since Air-Assault school.

loops and steel bumbers, it all gets bolted to the frame.
ie. use your bush gaurds for toe piont or snaping point.

ive seen the hooks snap on my rear frame. it ripped a huge hole in the frame body, damn military hooks

I have no idea if they will fit or not. But, if it will help, I'll be glad to take a picture or measurements. Let me know...
