I got my blazer sold, now I'm activley in the market for a military pickup. problem is I cant find one. I know there are sites that sell them, and I've been to them. I just cant remember where. Any one know a good place to get one.

Steelsoldiers.com
All u gotta do is type in military vehicles for sale on google or whatever u use and u will find whatever u want...also, try the search feature on here, it works wonders...

84cucv here has a few and 1 super low miles m1028 with 22k miles. he is in nj.

would be worth the shipping on the super clean one if you ask me.

and steel soilders nice guys.

Nj aint really that far from me. I mean like 10-11 hours but:rolleyes:

has any one shipped somthing like this before? how much does it cost? I need a good drive train more than any thing cause the body will get scrapped soon enough. so i dont wanna spend another grand to get one shipped. but that is definately a good looking one and cheaper than the couple that I have found. . if its not that much to ship something like this i may take you up on that offer to take a look at it for me

I've had two k5's shipped from two different locations...1st was from redondo beach ca to baton rouge la & do to the fact it was 7' tall, it cost me $1350 to ship via car transport...2nd was from slc Utah and it cost $950...jus make sure u do a search on transport companies...had zero issues with either one...

Vehicle shipping is between $1 and $1.50 a mile on an open trailer. You could possibly get set up contracting someone on centraldispatch.com for cheaper but would require it be purchased and ready to ship.

The Steelsoldiers guys are sure proud of them trucks. I did a search and found shipyourcarnow.com. They quoted me $777. I dont know any thing about them but its still to much for what my plans are. I have to call and talk to 84cucv yet and see what he has. There are also 2 at a dealer ship 2hrs from me but they each have 90,000+ miles on them. Unusually high from what I've seen on the m1008's. is it worth looking for one of them or will any 1ton reg. cab be just as stout. I will be building a truggy and want a good strong base with the right equipment to start with.

Wel the military truck will always be diesel where as most 1 ton civvy trucks you look at will be gas. Theyre also all th400 which is a plus if your looking for an auto but they come with a 208 behind it and thats a negative.

Depending on your power level you'll either way a 241 or a 205 for the transfer case.

As far as frame thickness etc goes I believe the military trucks are the same as regular one tons but not sure.

Military truck will also get you 4.56s and a detroit rear stock which is a huge bonus!

thats pretty much what i thought. is that 208 easy enough to change to a 205 since its behind a th400? and I new the m1008s were diesel, I read some were that diesels were good on inclines and such. I've had a 6.2 before but it was in a 2wd burb.

DO NOT BUY ONE FROM ALFA HEAVEN!

They're a company in Wisconsin and they specialize in "rebuilding" CUCV's and deuce's. They're scam artists and their rebuilding is mainly repainting and cleaning. Lots of people got screwed on one of their over priced, under repaired, and fresh painted trucks. Myself included.

Remember most CUCV's are lower mileage and at least decent to better shape than similar vintage civilian trucks. Anyone selling one as a running, driving truck is going to want fair value for that, not just a set of axles. I got $4750 for my 55,000 mile M1008 mine back in the summer.
If you just want axles you might be better off looking for just axles than a whole truck.

Check out Idaho Motor Pool. Bit closer to you than NJ but a good place. Also 100dollarman off of Pirate.

4xken sold one to a member here and this member contacted me to see if I was interested in buying it from him now. I passed. Both of these guys are in Michigan, FYI.
