i had purchased a milller 135 wire feed welder to do my cagework on trail rig and wanted the portability of the 110 unit. i had a guy start to do some work on winch mounts and other stuff but he got busy with contruction stuff and pretty much said tuff sh%t well i thought about trying to rent a welder to finish the stuff he just basicly tacked on and figured it would dollar me to death. i went down and bought a new miller 251 wire feed. holy moly 1/2" in a single pass took a little getting used to. 1/2' plate runs like candle wax :surepal: miller rocks

I got to use an older Miller 251 in my welding class awhile back and it was cool. .035 flux core & the Miller not even all the way up and 1/4" & 3/8" plate turned cherry red in a hurry.

I also have a Miller 135 & I like it alot, but it just doesn't have the :D that a 175 or 251 has.

Everyone jumps on me when I say that 110v MIG welders are nearly not worth buying unless you do NOTHING but light duty. But, for what you are all giddy about is why I say that....

i somewhat agree with that statement in the respect that if you never plan on welding anything heavier than say 1/4" the 110s are great. part of my decision was also the portability of the 110. the 220 volt one mentions it can weld 20 gauge although i have yet to try it with the 110 available. i could see possible issues with the larger gun of the 220v fitting into tight areas. i can say when welding rollcage tube for instance the 220v makes nicer welds. the 110 unit was $700 vs $2000 for the 220v in retrospect knowing what i know now i would have bought the 251 and saved 700 bucks :dunno:

The only thing 110 units are good for is 1/1000000 tin or sheet metal.
