I've been reading all the welder threads and need some advice.

I'm done playing with my older ESAB welder I picked up off craigslist awhile back. Its had some issues and I cant get parts for it anymore.

I have access to a Miller 130XP and I really like using that machine. Looking on craigslist locally, I can pick up a Miller 135, a 130XP, or a 140. All are priced about the same, with the 135 being the highest. It is also the only complete setup- cart, tank, reg, helmet and machine.

What would the CK5 crowd go for? I'm looking for something to do a cage, maybe a bumper or two and the like. I have an older arc machine for really heavy stuff if I have to weld anything to big.

Or should I save the ducats for awhile and go for a MM211?:D

I think thats the way I'm leaning. Not that I'm going to need the extra power, but it would be nice to have when I do need it.

Thx!

I have done ALOT of welding with my miller 130..

but truth be told im in heaven when Im using my friends 220 175 or the shops 220 miller 180.

They simply handle it better and have the power instead of making it work with my 110 powered set up.

A lot of the welds on my 07 that I jump/beat the snot out of including the upper shock tabs were done in my drive way with a 50 foot crappy cord with a 110 welder though..:eek1:

I would hold out:D

I love my little Miller 135...great bang for the buck!

If you can afford to wait and get the MM211 or MM180 you won't regret it. And the MM211 you can plug into 110 too. I have one and it works great.
