I've been romping around here for a while, And have got some good ideas.
But would like input of any sort. I have a 1972 Jimmy 4x4 350/350/205.
It started life as a Dept.of water service truck, then sold to second owner.
Who used it as work truck, for his locksmith business. Then i got my hands
on it. My use will be a all around (HARDCORE) Family RockCrawler!!!!! hahaha Anyways, this is the start of the MakeOver. First pics are stock,
new to me. Next are the just completed 6"lift spring for front (TC), schakle flip and 3"lift spring for rear. looks great! I think any way. lol
Then One Ton drivetrain swap. 1988 srw crewcab waiting to be buctherd,
454/400/205/dana60/14boltff. Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

no no no that's a terrible plan. first, trade the jimmy for a blazer. :D second, sell me the crew cab, i'll give you $500 for it and you can call it a day. :p: sounds like a really good plan and sounds like it's going to be a nightmare out on the trail & by the time you're done with it, it won't be a "mini" makeover anymore...

:haha: :haha: Mini makeover:haha: :haha:

Nice Jimmy, mine started as the same thing. Welcome to the site and good luck. Just remember, use search it works awesome.

I apolgize, first because im new to web forums! Second i hope i'm doing this
right. Well i seem to have miss placed completed lift pics, But easy to take more. I used a tuff country 6" spring for the front. MAN! Was it a pain to take
off the steering arm, those cone washers are CRAZY hard to take off. Rear shackles was easy, removed gas tank. It took all of 30 mins. could not have
been any faster. I'm happy with rear shackle flip and 3" springs. I was worried about (saggy butt or stink bug) rear end. But it came out level!! All parts and supplies bought from OFFROAD DESIGN. Great customer service. Any how!! Lots of pics. NEVER BOLT ON!! :haha:

that thing looks Tough! What are your plans for paint ?
I'm going to paint myself. I have two ideas i'm toying with. Both,
are using restomelum. Not rattle can but by the gallon, using a
spray gun. Etheir black base with lime green pin stripes(early70's) OR
some crazy color scheme like the one i photoshoped!!!!:haha:
BLAZER IS NOT MINE!! Just close to what i hope mine looks like!
I sold this 57 no post, for my Jimmy!!!!!

sh!t if you photoshopped that, i wonder what it'll look like with real paint...looks pretty neat...like the lime green design...how about the original olive green paint with pin stripes...or was that just an original color on Blazers?

Any plans for a doubler?

Might make it a little easier to rock-crawl with.

Don't paint it to nice, you'll never want to pound on it afterwards...:wink1:

The donor truck has a 4l80e, can you use a doubler. also a 454. I haven't
done any research. So any input is welcome! I lost my action pics of completed 6" lift. SUCKS!!!! We where at cleghorn trail, So-Cal.
off the 15 fwy. I will start to strip crew-cab soon, anything i should keep and
not sell off. for example hydro boost, etc. etc.

Without the train, Sounds like a deal!!!!:haha:

Front Shackles

How hard was it to install those front shackles, mine are kind of beat and I would like to give them some attention.

Mine looked just like yours two years ago, and the project goes on and on....

Nice work on the Jimmy, the lift came out nice:bow:

Later J.

Did the UNTHINKABLE!!!!

Hacked the stock stereo off today. Hated the AM sound and choice of stations. Installed new Sony with remote. So when im straped in my 5 point belt.. I can easily change stations and volume.
Lost sleep, over whether or not to hack the dash. NO REALLY.... haha
Anyways love my new tunes.

So hard trying to decide what to keep stock or custom/modified.

Next was the seats. Lowback, reupholster the old ones Or some racing type bucketseats. Saw some nice rigs with buckets, so that was my choice. My old ones where tweaked and needed help. So threw my money at the buckets. Oh yeah, took the top off. Its AFRICA hot in SO-CAL
right now. With no A/C, Forget about it. Now i have 3/80 air.
No time for the major makeover yet.. sacraficial crewcab still waiting on death row... This is my first atempt at a hardcore family
rockcrawler.. looking to add this one to our portfolio in the near future.
Check out our work! www.blackwidowkustoms.com Rockcrawler coming soon.
