mini spool in a 14bff

Im not running a spool in mine but I recently put a Lok-Rite locker in my daily driver. Not street friendly at all and a spool would be worse. You have to be very careful on wet roads. Makes a world of difference off road though.

i have welded spiders in mine like t-dawg not easy on tires i had a detroit and it was a lot better but it broke so that's where in at.

just weld it up. if it's not your daily driver, no need to worry about a little tire wear.

well for starters I would pay 145 for a mini spool before I spent all the time welding up spiders. My question was trying to find out somebody running one for its strength.
I myself would never comepletely lock the rear of a daily driver.

I had a detroit in my 14ff and my truck was daily driven until I sold it. I didnt mind it much other than when the roads were covered in snow and ice it made things interesting in 2wd.

I think that since the detroit hardly ever unlocked etc I am going to go with a full spool with my next project when I get the time.

A gent in my club was runing a mini until one of the pins fellout of it while driving and broke through the housing on a 14blt. I will never run a mini in anything i own. :doah:

I just don't really see the point. A full spool is so cheap for the 14 anyways, and it shaves a few pounds while your at it and you get a bit more fluid capacity.

It's even less labor to install since all you have to do is pull the ring gear off the carrier.

Why? $145 vs. some gas and wire... it doesn't really take that long to weld them up.
I agree on the welded dd though. The 14ff in my k10 is welded and it does eat tires.

Exactly... if you're going to spool it why not just weld it then you don't have to worry about stuff falling apart.
