I have run into a delima and timing is not on my side. I am going from a 1 piece rear main seal style block to a 2 piece rear main seal style block based on my latest engine purchase :thumb:

HOWEVER! I was just informed that my flywheel will not work due to balancing and general fitment on the crank because of the rear main seal change.

my question is: Can I use my existing clutch (pressure plate, flywheel, throw out bearing) with the 2 piece rear main style flywheel?

Trans is an SM465 for reference, so I know the spline count is the samebetween the years in question.

I did a quick auto parts search and it looks favorable, when parts don't change part numbers from 84 to 89 for clutch kits...
I would hate to have to get rid of the clutch because it has 90% life left on it...

nor do I want to spend an additional 100 dollars.

I think you'll be fine with the current clutch, the pressure plate bolt pattern should be the same. If I recall, the reason why you need a new flywheel when switching from a 1 piece rear main to a 2 piece is that the 1 piece does not have an external counterweight on the crank while the 2 piece does. There is a different crank bolt pattern for each type. There are two different flywheel diameters (153 and 168 tooth) so be mindful of that as well.

Yeah I know the difference in flywheels for balancing and rear main seal/crank options for the different blocks. They are both 12" clutches so should be 168 tooth count. 11" is 153 count if I remember correctly.
