so... I'm looking thru LMC for side mirrors for the arriving CC, and I see they have flat, and convex.... not sure I've ever had a convex side mirror... is it good, or goofy looking?

I've always liked the convex (closer than they appear) type mirrors for the pass door...helps alot with visibility down the side of the truck...the drivers I like the regular mirror with a small convex mirror down low on it.

that makes sense... done, convex right, str left...

Was weird when I bought my 05 crew cab. It had the flat right mirror. Was so used to the convex, it took a while to get used to it.

On another note. I bought 2 LMC mirrors for my 87 when I finished it. They were loose out of the box. A friend bought his from NAPA and they were better. Until they hit trees.

get the stainless whatever you do... my LMC are 2 years old.. no issues.

Retrofit tow mirrors of a new HD :pimp:

K5's came with the convex pass mirrors starting in ~87 or so. It's not a really aggressive curve to the glass, so the view is still good for a bit of distance. Sure helps narrow the blind spot beside you though.

As for backing up using a convex mirror, I spend all day backing up with a 6" round convex, and a 6X12 west coast on the passenger side. anywhere I'm up close and personal to various objects the convex gets 95% of my attention. Awesome for watching where the passenger side rears are in relation to curbs and stuff.

my 85 3/4 had the pass side wide view too...the mirror was actually flat glass, but had the convex function in the mirror somehow...

What CC did you buy? I missed it.

I have the stock power mirrors on my 91 burb. Had flat mirrors on it when i bought it, and wished for convex for years, after having one on my other trucks. Finally ordered the new mirror from Rockauto, and learned the hard way that the power mirror location on the 91 is too far back to make the convex worthwhile. If it was farther forward like the stock manual mirrors, or like a 92+, it woudl rock. In this applicaiton, i'm going to put my straight mirror back on. The field of view is really limited with a convex placed so far back.

For what its worth...

so I gotta do something relatively early on... i'll be running around with just the cab for awhile.. than I don't think the flatbed is going to be a huge issue with regular mirrors even tho it will stick out a bit from the cab...

I do have the old smaller 3-leg style from my 77... may dig those out and see how they'd be... i think distance off the door-wise, they'd be perfect... i'm certain those are flats...

I know that truck! Didn't know you bought the liftgate rig from Iceman!

Cool rig, he picked up an axle from me with it.

He dragging it out to you? Whats the intent? Is there a thread so i don't clog up this one?

Not sure how those mirrors lay out....so i'll defer comments to others.

just me babbling about it here and there... getting it shipped, no bed... building a tube flatbed towrig deal...

Cool rig, its a manual....454 or 350?

yeah, just couldn't swing the funding for a decent cummins rig. I'm very happy with the decision tho... 454/465/205
