mis matched gears

Just found out that my gears are mis matched. The set marking number on the pinion is 170, and the ring gear is 165. Iv read that the numbers have to be the same cause theey are lapped in matched pairs, but would it be ok if i go ahead and install them anyway . I know its not a smart idea, but i need to have my truck running next week.

of freak on who ever you got the gears from and have them make it right ?

Yeah, get the right gears. If the pinion and ring gear arent matched, you'll have a hell of a time setting it up, if at all. If you payed for new gears, make it right, however if you bought it on ebay or from some shmuch form a swap meet, thats the kind of stuff you get.

I've always received great parts and service from www.reiderracing.com and I've heard that www.randysringandpinion.com is also good.

Reider is great. They're only three miles from me.

They used to have an installation shop out back and I had them install a new R&P in my 12-bolt back in '97. Now they just sell parts, though.

They're a little spendy (even with not paying shipping charges) but they have top-quality stuff. And they're friendly, to boot!

You could probably even call them and see what they think about the mis-matched numbers.
