Got the Painless wiring kit for my 92 TBI swap all hooked up and ready to go, but i was reading the codes off of the computer and its not the right computer. The one I had came off of a manual truck so it doesnt have the controls for the lock up tranny. Now what?

Humm, I might could help you out, I have one from an auto truck and need one for a manual /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif. I would be willing to swap you straight across. That way we both win /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

Pm me if you are interested

Thanks,
Krennen

Does your tranny still have the factory lockup curcuit in place? If so it will still lock itself up without the computer input.

As for the computer I am not sure.

What codes do you get?

You can also put a manual lock up switch into it. A simple toggle is all that it takes.

I would guess the easiest fix would be to get the stock setup off of the 700R4 trucks from '82-86. (not sure on the years exactly, but non-computer controlled lockup 700R4's)

It's a vacuum operated standalone system.

However, I'd bet that PROM is different regarding engine control based on manual or automatic transmission. Not sure how much problem that will cause, but it won't be "right".

Tough call, either way, the right PROM is the 100% correct solution.

Just give painless a call and they can get you what you need. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
