MNorby's Goat - Ibex build

What did you think of the chassis overall Matt?

I mean how many tubes were there you might have done different. Or tweaked a little bit. That kind of stuff.

Sleaving those tubes was a good idea. Some folks just don't get that :haha::haha:

Hmmmm...still sad you made those half doors and cut it.

(The '83 that is.)

Lookin' good man!

The chassis is very well designed and laid out IMO. Lots of triangulation and no dead end nodes. Nothing to change as of yet. Hope to have link mounts on next week sometime and start figuring out links. Am going to do heat treated chromo 2x.25 lower links and thinking either .188 or .250 thick dom in the 1.5-1.75" od area for uppers.

I think the .188 is enough for top link unless you are going to be going all desert racing crazy with it, then I would psring for .250 and might even go thicker on the lowers if your gonna desert bash on it.

Wait this thing shouldn't weight that much right? You will probably be fine with .188 uppers and .250 lowers.

Although my favorite lowers I ever built were 1.5 .250 sleaved with 1.75 .120 wall. Those things held up really really well under a heavy truck

Getting some stuff on the way with all the black Friday whatever sales. ID tube clamps for crossmember removal, I had a length of 1.5x.25 so bought some more to make upper links with. Ordered up goatbuilts chassis shock mounts and lower axle link brackets. And got rest of rod ends I needed for the links. All I got left is 2 more heretic 2x.25 ht chromo links to order and I will have everything needed to make it a roller, hoping they have some sort of sale this weekend. Next step is drilling everything out to 5/8 and installing weld washers.

The Heretic .25 chormos have held up great. I believe no one has broken or bent a link in KOH or other comps. A few guys have pulled the inserts he welded in back in the beginning. On one of his threads over on pirate he has some numbers of what their tensile strength is.
I could only imagine what it would take to bend 1.5 sleeved with 1.75, holy hell batman!
