So I know that there are some old-schoolers here that ran 28 neon colored shocks on their rigs in the 80's, so I got to thinking about what other "goofy" mods people have done. Post up, don't be shy. Pics get you extra points.

I would have to say the blue flame seat covers that I have on my K5 seats:o. I got tired of the torn Vinyl poking me in.

Ira

it's all good as long as they came with a NOS sticker.

hmmm... i dunno. I did have plastic tail light cover thingies on my K5 at one point. Those were pretty lame.

My first Blazer was a 78 . When I bought it, someone had built a console around the 4wd shifter. Nice console, carpeted to match the floor. Only ONE PROBLEM-could not take it out of 4 HI, cause no slot in the console, just a hole for the shifter to poke up through!

The first thing that comes to mind is my hack exhaust job. The other thing I did was mount a fullsize bronco tire carrier on the back of the K5. That ended up being pretty hack.

Putting ford parts on a CHEVY is just plain blaspheme!:shame:

I broke one of my side windows following an FJ40 at Bisley Knob ORV. Instead of getting a new window , or even a new top I bought a sheet of Plexiglas and a long piano hinge. I mounted it inside, so it swung in. To keep things secure I used Velcro on the other three edges. I worked good until I got on the highway. In the end I ended up just using duct tape to hold it closed.

On a funny note I broke the back window out following the same FJ40 at Tellico. That time was in Feb in the snow. It was cold and due to some others breaking we were on the trail well past midnight. Did I mention it was cold?!

Moral of the the story; A K5 is wider than an FJ40!

Carefull there, we don't wanna go in that direction.

In the temp mods to get cha home category:
Beat the adjuster thimble on a cheep cresent wrench so that it couldn't fall off the bolt I put it on. Used the wrench as a spacer to get alternator belt tension after the smog pump failed in Big Springs, TX. Got me all that way back to the Left Coast.

In the really shoulda bought a 4x category:
Put 27-8.50 Armstrong Norsemans (!) on my Pinto wagon. Then got it stuck in an open lot surrounded by paved streets. My '65 Power Wagon driving co-worker says as he's yanking me out of the mud "Maybe you oughta leave that on the pavement...."

i decided it would be a good idea to mount my new lights on the cowl like the jeep girls do.. got em all wired and mounted.... went to open the hood.....

NOT!.... now i have two holes on either side of my cowl......good thing my truck is tall enough you cant see em ..lol

I don't think I have any I am ashamed of . I went flip from the get go with a CV , no blocks . I went lower gears again with the 35's . I went lockers ( rear since I got the lift , front last Friday ) . I had my exhaust tucked up as high as I could without having the driveshaft hit it up front ( close , rubbed a little dirt off it :wink1: ) . I went extended steel brakelines . I went with the gabriel shocks in back , and the 4 inch lift rears in front . I got the bumpers and sliders and fender trimming .

The only thing I have to be ashamed of is mods I haven't done yet , namely crossover steering ..... and I have the flatops and the arm in the garage :thumb:

i broke my passenger side mirror, on a tree, following my friend's jeep through an insanely tight trail :doah:. the large pieces are now held in there with packing tape, and i'm still using it, for the time-being. does that count as a mod?
