So I'll be adding a roof console in my Suburban build and am contemplating putting my CB radio up there and some switches. I'm thinking about taking the door for the front compartment out and then cutting a section out at the front to fit the CB up inside the console, then installing a switch panel in the remaining opening. I'll try to take some pictures and draw up what I mean when I get home tonight.

Anyone ever do something like this? I'd love to see pictures of roof mounted/console mounted CB radios. Thanks

OK, so I finally had a chance to rough up a drawing of sorts. My first idea is to just mount the CB to the console and either leave the storage compartment as is, or change it to a switch panel. I thought putting it up on the roof would put the speaker closer to my ears allowing me to hear it better. My only concern with this set up is how low the CB will hang and how much of the windshield it will block.

My second idea is to cut out a section of the console (red box) and mount the CB partially inside the console with the remaining opening from the compartment (hashed area) as a switch panel.

Or I could scrap the whole idea and just mount the CB on the bottom of the dash.

Thoughts? Again any pictures of your CB set up in the truck is appreciated.
