i wanna make the top easier to take off instead of being made to remove a million- and- a-half bolts ? :p: :frown1:  it be nice to have ones with a rubeer head like jeeps have that u can remove by hand instead of tools. ;) :D :cool1:  id like to retain my rear panels also. so it must function and look good at the same time. thanks for any ideas or comments ahead of time.

air ratchet.... takes under a minute to get all the bolts out...

thats only if you have air access...

i understand what you mean though, it gets too hot sitting in the back unscrewing them.

take the top off and leave it off? works for me.

Battery powered drill.....................cheap at a flea market..........just throw it in the back!

I had this idea years ago, but never researched the parts list.

There is an aircraft fastner that looks like a metal button on a short stud. It fits through a female receiver that has a hole with a slot that gets thicker as you get further from the hole. The slot goes toward the front of the vehicle.

Mount the buttons on the top and the receivers on the bed rail. You set the top on with the buttons in the receivers and push it forward, which draws the top down snug on the seals. Then just put the forward bolts in to keep everything in place.

A follow-on idea was to make bed rail caps to put on when the top was off.

run less bolts or none at all my top only goes on when weathers bad(rain or snow) iv actually driven around with no bolts in it(not a great idea) but it was fine and never leaked.

just take it off and leave it!!!!!
