hi all,

just about to finish an overhaul to my 350 engine (1981 GMC Jimmy) and want your suggestions to add more on-road/off-road performance to it..

thanks

Tell us a little more about your rig ( tranny, gear's, tire size, carbed or efi etc. etc.) and it's intended use. Allow me to throw out a personal thought that may help you.... I love hotrods & modifying engines for perfomance, always will. BUT, in the off road world all the money I've spent on cams, carbs, headers, MSD's etc. I would have to say most if not all that cash would have been better spent on running gear improvments. I'm not saying dont beef up your engine I'm saying dont try & build power when you really should change your gear ratio first. Just my opinion from my experience. Give us your ???'s This forum is awesome, your in good hands.

i dont know much about the specs it has, but the mechanic told me that everything in it is its standard parts...
the only i noticed was front suspension changed to Gabrial..

it has the old big carb on the engine
i will get the size of the tires soon (rims are size 15)...
auto gear (how can i find the ratios?)

my main use of the car is offroad... specially in the desert!!

here are a couple of pics

the sizes on the tires are as follows

10, 15, 109

do i need larger tires for better offroad performance?

what about the gear type/size??

also, is there any good suspension that will give me a smooth drive onroad and is good for offroad?
