Monroe or Rancho for daily driver 89 K5???

Either brand will work but the Monroes will probably give you a softer ride.

The Ranchos are single effect wich means that they only absorb when they are pressing (if i recall correctly.

No idea about the monroes but i suppouse they will be double effect.

For me the only reason to mount the Rancho would be if they have installed the remote control inside the vehicle .

That's assuming that you choose RS9000 series shocks (the only adjustable Rancho shock).

I"m going

to go with the monroe reflex shocks and new all terrain tires. I will also put on all new body bushings.

The reflexes and sensatrack's are decent shocks. And when Monroe's are purchased at kragen, they are lifetime warranty....so basically you get to replace them whenever you want w/in reason.

That being said, after installing monroe reflex's, Monroe Gas magnums, and Monroe Sensatrack's......i love the Bilstein HD's i got. They freaking rock on my burb, but its a 3/4 ton.

For a DD stock 1/2 ton, i liked the Monroe Gas Magnums a lot. Ran them on my 94 blazer (ifs), and i thought it handled well, and wasn't too stiff.

NAPA truck shocks or Rough Country Nitro 9000's. Monroe makes Rancho shocks and they all suck.

Yeah, I should * what I said yesterday and say if you have the $$$ go Bilsteins. Best stuff around. I'm just poor anymore.

Well... Rancho shocks are made and owned by Monroe. So its 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other. Rancho is Monroe's offroad &4x4 division. Rancho is better and designed for off road and lifted truck applications. They are a pretty stiff shock unless you get the adjustable 9000s.
Monroe is for stock vehicles and will give softer ride.
If your truck is stock height, used for a mix of highway and mild offroad/4x4. The Monroe Truck gas magnum are a good riding shock for your need.

Last I knew the Monroe truck shocks were the exact same thing as the Rancho 5000 only different paint, part number, and sticker.

For the same money (or less) you can get the NAPA Truck shocks which are nitrogen charged monotubes.
