Yesterday I went to the Springs to check out the Monster Garage K5. I have a friend that owns an engine shop where they are keeping it. Got to meet the Monster Garage staff and ended up going out with a few of them. Pretty cool guys! Didn't see Jesse but he was on the mountain today.

Its a Purple 88 K5 (they call it the grape) converted to 2wd. Took off the front suspension from a Ford Ranger, used a ZZ4 SBC with a Vortech supercharger and TH400. Its running a Holley carb with a box around it.

I have some more pics that I need to get off the camera.

Looks like fun, so did you see it run? Is it fast?
It's cool when someone comes out with a good new idea for a K5. I like the picture I have of a pre-runner too.
Haven't seen you on here much anymore. I hope things are going OK. Shoot me an e-mail when you get a chance. I'd like to get together with you sometime for a cold one.

Thats cool cuz I heard Jesse wasn't going to do Monster Garage anymore.

They sure "throw" some nice paint jobs on the monsters.

Yeah, he did alright. I heard 15 minutes which was about average and not too bad for someone thats scared of heights and it was his first time racing on the mountain.

It's pretty quick but not as fast as some of the other cars. Somebody had mention 1000hp but I'd guess its much closer to 500rwhp. Sounds good about a BBQ. I need to come up there. I always talk about your house when I go past.

From what the Monster Garage staff said, Jesse was going to quit because him and the head producer was always knocking heads. Discover told the producer to let Jesse do whatever he wants so I guess he's staying with Monster Garage. The build team did a good job. Got to talk with a few of the build crew members. I would of stayed away from a carb but I know its always a bitch with time to get these done.

When are they running or is it now? I'd like to go check it out as I have never been there for the climb. No one ever lets us know about the PP hill climb here /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif.
 
Looks like fiberglass fenders. How much of the body is 'glass?
