Any opinions on Monster Transmission for a new th350? And if one were to replace a TH350 is it better to get my present one freshened up or just go new, assuming money isnt an issue, it is, but lets assume it isnt so I can get ballpark numbers.

If Monster isnt great what tranny options are a good replacement for original GM tranny? Summit? I looked at that gearstar, wow its a not a cheap.

If you have a K case trans now have yours redone. Car cases are different.

K case? How do I find out if I have this?

This is what makes it “K” ?
“The only best surfire way to tell is by the 6 bolts holding the dust cover on. These are actual bolts instead of screws that hold the 2wd thin metal covers”

"K" cases for 4x4's have a big "K" cast into the bell housing also..
2wd and car cases are just smooth there..

Ok Im back to square one.

Went out started truck to get warm to check ATF levels. Put it in Neutral... now Im right back to the tranny not engaging any gear. When I first installed the twin stick and fired it up, it shifted fine.

The only thing that has changed is I put in new tranny mounts, fluid, pan and gasket.

I locked the hubs, went into loc hi and lo... truck wont move

Unlocked hub into unloc HI, nothing.

It will engage in Neutral while running and off, so I rocked it enoughto get a few revolutions of each drive shaft, in hope there is an un-meshing in the Tcase and transmission.

Transmission will not engage Drive or Reverse. Parkand Neutral seem to work..

Both drive shaft spin when in Neutral and Im pushing the truck. Front in loc with hubs locked of course

Is it possible installing the tranny mounts and having to lift them “un-meshed” something? Gear not synched? I pushed it forward like 5 feet and Reverse 5 feet in hopes it would mesh again, assuming thats a thing.

Im about at my wits end right now.

Every since I tried to get this truck into 4wd with the old stock np203 shifter its been nothing but trouble.

Why did it work before and not now? The truck literally has not moved one inch since it worked last.

Im at a loss.

Is it full, I remember you said 2.5 quarts yesterday. Did you top it off?

I just added 1/2 a quart so, It has roughly 4 quarts presently. The reason I went out and started that beast was to get ATF at proper levels.

Can too low a level cause the tranny to not engage gears? It has the same amount now and not working as it did when it did work

Ive put in 3.5 quarts
That's not enough.
I was telling you earlier, you put 3 quarts and then you run the engine and cycle through the gears and hold each gear for a few seconds back and forth a few times then put more fluid until you have movement and then you let it sit for the fluid to settle with the dipstick out then you start it and check for correct level.
I don't remember exactly what my th350 took when I removed the pan but I put more than a gallon, more like 2 gallons
If you do have a bad transmission, I took mine out for a 700r4, fresh rebuild a couple of thousand miles on it, I will sell it cheap.
It has already the aluminum pan with the drain plug

@TJ1978
I’m sure you are aware, but a tranny low on fluid doesn’t do squat. Just like yours right now.

In my Chevy 1975 light truck service manual it says “pan or filter change is 4 quarts”

Thats what Im basing my refil on and the fact that Ive put in in now, exactly how much I put in last when it worked.

I can shoot to Oreillys and grab another 2 quarts and add more.

At this point Im spending more than I want on pans gaskets and fluid when I can just buy a new or rebuilt tranny and be done with it

Lols like there were some posts before I could respond, but based on your video, I still vote low on fluid. I didn’t hear the rpm change based on load.

Is the aluminum pan you put deeper than stock?
I know mine is and it takes a little more.
And you say you put 3.5 qts, I say you are low.
