what kinda reduction do you get from the planetaries? what reduction is in the school bus rearend? i've always wondered what size gear ratio monstertrucks run. should be able to multiple diff x planetaries = true axle ratio.
also the sound they make while staging,....rump-rump-rump...i understand that is not cam lope, but rather the ignition system only fireing the same cylinder every 2nd compression stroke to keep it from loading up...in theory running as a 4 cylinder engine b/c each cylinder only fires every other time that it is suppossed to, b/c if all 8 were fireing it would have to turn the engine faster than the stall speed. which is how many rpm's? and what kind and how does it work?(ignition system)
and last but not least, why do most of the trucks run 1500 hp or there about? why haven't we seen some1 put a 7000 hp top fuel or funny car type engine in one and just rip it, lay them all in waste?..... cost?

Over 2 years since any updates. Did the truck phase out or what? Did anything happen to DaPlumber as he hasn't updated his Burb thread either.
Maybe he's over at Ron Johnson's shop helping him finish his Baja truck.....

Cool... anyone ever designed smaller planetaries for like a 14bolt and D60? If not, why? And if not, I call dibs on the patent!
Yes, the bad part is 18:1 axle gears. I built some 9"/13" ZF planetary axles. Like the monstertruck stuff but smaller.
