What size ubolts do I need, when running stock 52’s leaf springs (4 leaf with stock over loads) with shims? Is it ok to drill out the stock 10bolt Ubolt top plate, to use for the 14bolt ubolts?

I just did a 14-bolt conversion and got a U-bolt kit from JCwhitney for pretty cheap. I didn't need to change my plate at all, it just all went together.. I bet the problem you are having it the u-bolts dont fit exactly around your axle housing... which means they spread out wider at the top where u put the plate on. I would just buy new U-bolts (good idea anyway) and specify its for a 3/4-ton and they will be the correct size and bend!!

Would you happen to still have the part number or item number for the ubolt kit?

Thanks!

Actually my bad, I forgot I bought a 2'' lift block kit for $44.99 from them and it came with those U-bolts. Item #ZX076982W Maybe they can just sell you the U-bolts out of that kit, but you will have to call them because the only straight up u-bolt kits they have are for jeeps... Just whatever you do end up getting make sure its for a 3/4-ton truck, because the radious of the bend is a little different, not much, but it makes them that much harder to get in the plates!

Your 10 bolt stuff will not work......

3" axle tubes VS. 3 3/8" and jeep ubolts are 2 1/2 & 2 3/4" so they aren't even close, you need 3 3/8", 3 1/2" will work but 3 3/8" is better.
