More boost ?s

Hx35 will do 45psi before they threaten to come apart. That's not an issue. It's not engine rpm that makes boost on a diesel engine. That's what I tryed to describe in my first post. That's a gasoline engine train of thought.

What turbine housing size do you have on your 35?

the only problem with the 35 pushing that much boost, its past the efficiency range so its basically just superheating the air. it'll definitly hold that much psi fine.

I know. That's getting out of the compressor map. That wasn't my point though. I had a stocker hx35 up to 55psi with a 12 cm3 hot housing. A 6.2 will never fuel hard enough to worry about anything near the top end.

yup. agree completely. i just didnt see it up there and wanted to throw it out. i pushed damn near 50psi a few times on mine. (my hx35, not my 6.2)

The assembly number is 3592766, the housing has number 3552791 on it? I don't have it here so I am just looking at the pictures I have.

I understand fuel builds boost, what am I not understanding? You think I should just let it make what the fuel allows?

for the most part yes. you could max out the fuel on that engine and have no problem with the hx35 keeping it under control.
only thing i think you might need to watch out for is the head gasket. i believe atleast on the 6.5 the consensus is that about 20psi you need to start watching it. not sure on the 6.2. but i imagine a proper torqueing of the factory bolts would last you for the most part. demon might have more on that tho.

That is why I was limiting it to 12 was the head gaskets. It had new gm ones put in 03 or so.

Wow it sucks not having internet these things just get rolling pretty quick. First off, I guess i kinda have a body lift, the 78 frame didn't match the 68 mounts on the cab so I made what I like to call body compensators. Second yes its a banks manifold. Third it seems like theres a lot of talk about what an hx35 can do on a cummins and crossing over that over to a 6.2. like '80 427 said putting on the bigger turbo and then waste gating it is just because the gmx turbos seem to choke up top. Its all about getting the best performance we can, why not go big and tone it down to what a 6.2 can actually use and do it more efficently vs a turbo that will push slightly less boost and choke your motor while its doing it.

So been doing some more freeway driving and I still feel like my egts are pretty high for cruising at 1800 rpm(800-900*) and I can't accelerate much past that or I sore past 1050*. So my next thought is to go to water/meth injection. I've done some research but I was hoping that someone on here had some opinion on it or some real world experience.

80' 427, Hows your turbo project coming along?

couple things. that's not hot. thats normal. Don't be afraid of 1400* it won't hurt anything, until you keep it sustained at those temps.

Charge Air Cooler. Install one. Before you think you need to injecting anything.

I never did catch what size Turbine housing your using. What size is it?

I have the manifold, crossover pipe, turbo, outlet for 3" and a dodge intercooler from a pervious project.

I also have Calc 2 everyday, intro to psych and american history. As well as a 5.3 swap on my brothers 71 cutlass. Being old and in school doesn't leave alot of time for anything else. Shooting for Christmas break. It will be here soon.

Interesting, I had heard for a non turbo (ie, non coated pistons) that 1100 was the max egt that you'd want to see, otherwise risking burning holes in the pistons...

I think my turbine size is 76mm but i could be wrong. all the specs for my turbo are on page one.

So I called heath diesel today and talked to him to see if he had any thoughts. And he said 900* is way to hot for cruising egts and 1100* is about as far as you wanna go. You can go to 1300* but just for a sec. So i'm going to set up a second boost gauge to double check that my gauge is working properly and then I can call heath back and see what he thinks.

76mm would be wrong. Even for.the turbine wheel. I'm asking the turbine housing size. Holset be a volume in cm cubed. And Garrett is an A/R number (air ratio)

Just carry on with your phone a friend. You clearly haven't listened to a word I've said.

1300 degrees will not melt a hole in a piston. Even after 20 seconds. You clearly don't want to hear that.

Good luck and giver ****.

Heath diesel is kinda the expert on 6.2s. He runs one at bonnieville and sells all kinds of stuff for 6.2/6.5s. Still I trust what you are saying.
