more carb help needed

Ok I am having a hard start in the morning when cold amd when It does start it runs maybe 2 seconds and then dies,atart it again same thing,(this is with me having to put my foot on the throtle to start and keep it there just idleing to run) then start to work and have to use the gas and brake at the same time or it will die after about the first minute it will hold its own at a stop at the stop in gear the idle speed is about 650-600 after It is warmed up it will idle at about 800 out of gear after warm but will not idle (stay running) when cold..
Spec are 73 350 750 rodchester from jet edlebrock intake msd-off road ign.,
Any thoughts will be greatly thankfull for...mike

Sounds like the choke is not closing.

Is that the thing I might have read or heard about the flap not closing all the way and staying up like maybe about1/8-1/16" How do I adjust it to close all the way ( I think I have to bend the rod -maybe)
