Double wall tops tend to sag a lot in the middle which is why the single wall tops are more popular. The single wall tops also have dome lights in them.
Dome lights are one reason, but they also bolt down from the top of the bedrail which is nice if you don't want to have to remove your side trim panels each time the top comes off
what years did they come? could you switch a double wall for single wall? i have never seen one before. (Then again i never really looked)
not trying to hijack
Well it can be done, but the bolt holes are in different locations on the bedrail. You'll need to drill new holes and weld nuts on the underside to for the bolts to grab without removing the side trim panels.
