more horsepower out of 305

heys guys thanks for all your responses in other posts really helped alot now wanted to know if by removing the catalic converter and putting flowmaster will it give me more horsepower and also removing the pollution pump. They don't do any emission testing down here(so. florida) any more so i don't think there'd be a problem. thanks for your responses.
 
YES,,,get rid of that nasty ol' cat a throw it into the atlantic!!!!then install that sweet sounding flowmaster!!! if you want crackly noise then get a two chamber,,,if you want the deep throaty sound then get the three chamber....
you will notice better power and such,maybe even better gas mileage!!!

It would help a little, but 305 and horsepower are not two words that should be used in the same sentencs. The duals you could still save, but I would not put any money in the motor itself, instead I would save up for a 350 then you would have a platform to work from.

but I was mistaken
 
a 305 and a 350 both have the exact same H.P.!!!the only diff. is torque

According to the spec chart, in 86 you could get a 305 with 155-160 horsepower or a 350 with 160-185 horsepower.

<font color=purple>Hey 1st timer,

How many miles does your 305 have ? If it's around the 70,000 - 75,000 mark you'll be replacing the cam real soon, the 305's are notorious for that. If so, put in a little bigger cam at the time. I did this with my 305 I had in a 77 Impala and it made a world of difference. Some other things you could do is an MSD ignition system and a K&N air filter. The best thing you can do is keep it tuned up well, I used to beat guys with 350's all the time when I was younger. Good luck.</font color=purple>
